This Rowel is edited and published by your secretary Jim Kirks and here is the reason why.

"I fell Tuesday evening in the Sacramento airport.  I am in Sutter Med Center.  Surgery on both knees today.  Six month's recovery." Phil Price

Pres. Elect Larry Bradley called the meeting to order. He asked Len Foreman to lead the flag salute, which he did. Then Pres. Elect Larry asked Mary Sakuma to lead the members and guests in singing “My Country Tis of Thee.” Then Rev. Jim Patterson gave the invocation. However, Pres. Elect Larry recognized Rev. Jim for “preaching” during the invocation to the tune of $5.00.

FUTURE MEETINGS:

August 23rd:  Chris Hatch and judging the National Retriever Championship show.

August 30th:  Roy Ellis

September 6th;  No Meeting due to holiday the day before.

VISITING ROTARIANS & GUESTS

Pres. Elect Larry asked Jim Kirks to introduce the guests from Paradise at his table. Pres. Elect Larry recognized Jim for $5.00 for not introducing the guests properly.  The guests at his table were Paradise Club past president Ron Jones and his wife, and Paradise Club's immediate past president Dana Gajda and her husband.

Then Steve Plume introduced District 5160 Governor Gary Vilhauer and his wife Leslie Vilhauer at his table.

Unfortunately, Glenn Pulliam didn’t have any guests at his table to introduce and the Rotarians at his table all contributed $1.00 each for not having a guest.

Pres Elect Larry read a thank you note for one of our scholarship recipients.

Check out the details below, and keep these things in mind -

- Save big $$
- Have a wonderful day!

Membership

Bring guests, who you think you can interest in becoming a member, to meetings.

RECOGNITIONS

Roy Ellis was asked by Pres. Elect Larry if Roy was recognized enough for the Comanche rides he enjoyed. Roy agreed to contribute $40.00.

Pres. Elect Larry asked Clint Goss about his 2015 F-150 truck. The answer was that Clint would contribute $20.00.

Chris Hatch spent $3,300 on the removal of a foxtail from the lungs of his champion Labrador retriever.
Fortunately, Chris has doggie health insurance that covered the expense. In gratitude for the good insurance coverage Chris told Pres. Elect Larry that he would like to become a bell ringer to the tune of $80.00.

Unfortunately, the attendance record for the August 16, 2016 Durham Rotary meeting showed that Len Foreman was absent. Since Pres. Elect Larry sat next to Len at that meeting, K.R. Robertson was recognized for $15.00 for not recording Len as present.

Since Daryle Polk paid $7.00 for a “Happy Birthday” song on August 16th, Pres. Elect Larry just congratulated Daryle on celebrating his 67th birthday at Forcella Italian Bistro on August 22nd.

Must Be Present To Win

Len Foreman was present to win and he volunteered to bring dessert for the August 30th Durham Rotary meeting.

Program

Christ Hatch showed images of the National Armature Labrador Retrieve Championship. 130 dogs qualified and 110 competed. There were ten tests in 10 different areas. In our region, Labrador Retriever Field Trials have been held at Clear Creek.
