Pres. Ravi Saip called the meeting to order.  Pres. Ravi asked Chris Hatch to lead Durham Rotarians in the salute to the Flag.  Then Mary Sakuma had Larry Bradley lead the patriotic song "My Country Tis of Thee."


Rev. Jim Patterson gave the invocation and was thankful for the food and the dessert.

 

Meeting was held at Durham Memorial Hall and dinner was catered by Speteri's.

NEXT MEETINGS
 

December 13, 2016: Durham Rotary Christmas Party at BCCC.  Durham High Band will provide holiday music. Social hour and a no host bar starts at 6:00pm, dinner starts at 6:30pm.  Larry Bradley will lead Christmas Carol and Durham High School band will be there too.  There will be about 32 people (members, spouses and friends).  Please bring a gift no less than $20 for the gift exchange.

 

REPORTS

 

Larry Bradley requested that our club sends 4 DHS students to Camp Royal next year.  All members at the meeting agreed and the request was approved by president Ravi.  Cost per student will be $895 next year.

 

President Ravi read a thank you letter from Butte County Recorder Candace J. Grubbs thanking club's effort in Nov. 8th election.  Associate with the thank you letter is a check of $405.  The check goes to our foundation as was in the past.

 

President Ravi read a notification letter from district 5160 that our dues for each member will be increased to $212 per annum.   Due increase will take effect next fiscal year.

 

DURHAM ROTARY DARK:
 

Mary Sakuma reported that Durham Rotary will be dark December 20th and 27th and January 3rd.

 

CRAB FEED TICKETS:
 

Chris Hatch has 2017 Durham Rotary Crab Feed tickets.  Rotarians are invited to take at least 10 tickets.   Any unsold tickets must be returned to Chris Hatch by the January 17, 2017 Durham Rotary meeting.   Any tickets not turned in will be considered sold.

 

PROGRAM

 

David Jessen presented Aaron Amator, manager of Durham Mosquito Abatement District.  Aaron is a third generation Durhamite and has been with the district for 17 years.  Here are the highlights of his presentation:

 

RECOGNITIONS

 

Steve Plume acquired the grinder for $65.  It is for the month of December and January 2017.

 

Steve Plume also contributed $20 for his 20 year anniversary on December 7th.


Jen Liu contributed $100 for his travel to Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao, and Mexico and became a bell ringer.


Rev. Jim Patterson contributed $5 for his grandson's (eagle scout) ascension to lead trumpeter position in Durham High School band.


President Ravi contributed $50 to Rev. Jim Patterson's grandson's (eagle scout) ascension to lead trumpeter position in Durham High School band as well.
