The Chicken Report
The Rotary Club of Durham
Phil Price, Editor
This is not a Rowel
The Rotary Club of Durham met in the Durham Park for a Chicken in the Park dinner on September 22, 2020. This was not a meeting. It was a social gathering. Since we are not getting together for meetings, which are conducted on Zoom, President Jen wanted a little get together. So we had chicken in a barrel in the Durham Park. We also had a salad, which I understand, was prepared by Jessica Thorpe. And we wore masks and practiced social distancing. See the photos below.
The following spouses were introduce:
Jessica Thorpe introduced John Bohannon, the current Superintendent of the Durham Unified School District. He will be joining our Club.
Also introduced was Bruce Miller, a former member, who will be re-joining our Club.
It was reported that Harvest Festival sponsors have donated $9,400 this year, in the absence of the Harvest Festival.
Mike Crump got a response from the County on our Putney Street project. The response was that the County Department of Public Works is so busy with problems created by the fires that we cannot expect a response for at least a month. See last week’s Rowel for details on the project.
Our next meeting will be by Zoom, on September 29th.
Daryl Polk will present a program.
It'll be Greg Holman, the
Fire Chief of Durham Volunteer Fire Department.
